The iShares MSCI Global Metals & Mining Producers ETF (PICK) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 388,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 53,000. Shares of PICK were up about 1.6% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were Alcoa (AA), trading up about 3.5% with over 14.6 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Freeport Mcmoran (FCX), up about 1.6% on volume of over 11.8 million shares. Mechel OAO (MTL) is the component faring the best Thursday, higher by about 12.9% on the day, while Worthington Industries (WOR) is lagging other components of the iShares MSCI Global Metals & Mining Producers ETF, trading lower by about 10.5%.
