The Coal ETF (KOL) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 208,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 152,000. Shares of KOL were off about 0.6% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were Teck Resources Limited (TECK), trading down about 3.8% with over 3.8 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Cloud Peak Energy (CLD), off about 5.2% on volume of over 1.6 million shares. Westshore Terminals Investment (WTE.CA) is the component faring the best Thursday, higher by about 1.8% on the day.
