Thursday's ETF with Unusual Volume: MXI

The iShares Global Materials ETF (MXI) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 467,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 41,000. Shares of MXI were down about 0.3% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were Vale (VALE), trading off about 0.1% with over 16.6 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Freeport McMoran (FCX), up about 0.3% on volume of over 6.4 million shares. Gerdau (GGB) is the component faring the best Thursday, higher by about 3% on the day, while Vulcan Materials (VMC) is lagging other components of the iShares Global Materials ETF, trading lower by about 1.2%.
