The iShares MSCI Global Metals & Mining Producers ETF (PICK) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Tuesday, with over 793,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 118,000. Shares of PICK were down about 1.3% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Tuesday were AK Steel Holding (AKS), trading up about 1% with over 8.7 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Freeport McMoran (FCX), down about 1.5% on volume of over 8.1 million shares. Mechel (MTL) is the component faring the best Tuesday, up by about 2.5% on the day, while Timkensteel (TMST) is lagging other components of the iShares MSCI Global Metals & Mining Producers ETF, trading lower by about 4.3%.
